6:30 – 10 PM in Crystal City: Free Registration on Eventbrite
The Metro Music Source will partner with Artomatic 2012 to host its monthly music industry meet-up event. The event takes place on Thursday, May 31st at Artomatic and features a panel discussion on social media marketing for musicians (part of Artomatic’s professional development workshop series in Music, Film, Business and Innovation/Entrepreneurship), followed by an evening of informal networking for musicians and music industry professionals.
Artomatic is a multi-dimensional festival showcasing creative work across all artistic disciplines. Musicians are given the opportunity to perform, network and cross-promote their music with other creative entrepreneurs in visual arts, film, performance and fashion. Participating musicians also have the opportunity to sell their merchandise in the Artomatic music shop, utilize space for rehearsals, and tap into Artomatic’s newly launched professional workshop series. The music workshop series consists of five weekly discussions, designed for the advancement of indie musicians, featuring guest panelists from the music industry, tackling topics that DIY musicians face in our digital age.
The Metro Music Source/ Artomatic music industry meet-up kicks off with a free wine-tasting provided by the Washington Wine Academy. The evening transitions into a panel discussion focusing on the overload of social media marketing. Panelists include Eric Schutt from eSocialMedia Shop, Jem Bahaijoub from imaginePR, Jennifer Vinson from DC Setlist, and moderator Dave Mallen from Innovation Station Music. The evening ends with an informal networking event.
The Metro Music Source (MMS) monthly meetups provides musicians and music industry professionals a unique opportunity to connect, collaborate, and learn from others. Past events have brought together local musicians, record label reps, artist managers, publicists, filmmakers, graphic designers, music publishers, producer/engineers, and many others from musician-supporting industries. Thanks to the consistent support of local musicians and industry folks, the MMS has continued to grow, and is proud to partner with local arts organizations like Artomatic and co-host workshops, panel discussions and live music showcases.
